A Makeover for Montreal's Metro Cars - New Cars Offer Quieter Ride

In the hustle and bustle of big cities, the Metro often becomes one of the most sacred lifelines to both townies and tourists alike. This is definitely the case in Montreal. According to its website, The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) provides more than 1.3 million passenger trips each day, helping people get to and from work and explore all the city has to offer. But Wait There is More - Tightening Emission Regulations

Emission standards are tightening around the world. These regulations are becoming more stringent with additional laws phasing in over time, almost like the all too catchy phrase heard in most infomercials, "but wait there is more." In Europe, one of the regulations is Euro 6, which states that the nitrogen oxide emissions in light-duty diesel vehicles must be less than 80 mg/km starting in 2014.

A Metal Movement: Tips and Tricks for Working with Aluminum

Aluminum is quickly gaining in popularity in automotive manufacturing as it makes vehicles lighter, stronger and more durable, contributing to overall fuel efficiency. Ford Motor Company was the first manufacturer to jump in to the high volume vehicle production arena with the aluminum alloy body structure for the 2015 F-150. By doing so, they pioneered the production methods and must now address the repair infrastructure in place to handle aluminum body frames. There are however significant differences from the traditional steel vehicles. Here are some tips for repairing and refinishing aluminum body frames.

ULTRASIM: Designed to Develop High Performance Plastics

What did we do when the testing software we were using wasn't measuring as accurately or precisely as we would've liked? We used the brilliant minds in our company to build our own! ULTRASIM®, a computer simulation software that tests plastic component concepts, was thought up and developed by one of our engineers more than a decade ago. ULTRASIM is a BASF exclusive system that provides a virtual environment to test multiple factors. It can test how a material will hold up under different temperatures as well as analyze loading conditions and rates including static, slowly applied loads and crash, quickly applied loads.
