The Buzz is Building for the 2014 PACE Awards

To kick off SAE World Congress, the "best of the best" in automotive innovations are celebrated and the Automotive News PACE Award winner is announced.  One of our chemistry-driven innovations, the high-gloss resin that can resist scratch and mar in high-touch areas such as the door switch bezel and top finish panels, is up for an award.

This innovation was created in collaboration with Ford Motor Company to be utilized in the Ford Fusion Hybrid vehicle. In fact, Ford has been awarded the 2014 Automotive News PACE Innovation Partnership Award for this partnership and the ability to bring our innovation to market.

This new resin was able to significantly improve scratch and mar resistance without sacrificing any color or gloss requirements as you can see in its rich, deep-black appearance. Crossing our fingers that this innovation brings home another award tonight!

The PACE Award is a very prestigious award and there are many strong contenders.  Below are a few innovations:

  • EcoTrac™ Disconnecting All Wheel Drive - AAM
  • Pressure Sensor For Pedstrian Protection - Continental Automotive
  • GTD Variable Nozzle Turbine Turbocharger Technology for Euro 6 and Beyond - Honeywell Turbo Technologies
  • Spray Enhancements in Gasoline Direct Injection Enabled by Laser Drilling - Robert Bosch LLC
  • Eaton Fuel Tank Isolation Value (FTIV) - Eaton Automotive Controls
