Investing in Brazil's Automotive Coatings Industry

A €2.5 million investment was announced yesterday that will enhance our waterborne coatings technologies and expand our capacity to service the growing Brazil automotive industry. It will provide new and improved equipment to our Demarchi Coatings site, located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Our goal is to meet the market demands of the new automakers that are setting up plants in Brazil, especially those using waterborne coatings.

With added eco-friendly benefits, many automakers have started trending toward using waterborne paint instead of solvent-borne paint. As the pioneer of this technology, it was important for us to expand our capabilities in the South American market.

Another one of our techniques, integrated process, eliminates one step and saves material, time and energy without sacrificing quality.

In this market, we have traditional clients such as General Motors, Volkswagen, Fiat and PSA Peugeot Citroën along with a strong presence in the coatings for trucks. We have also secured a few new contracts with automakers like Hyundai and Chery.

In 2013, Brazil was the fourth largest car sales market in the world and in seventh place worldwide as a car producer according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA).
